Infant School

Pre-School to Year 2

Where adventure stories begin…

Starting school is a massive step for every child, which is why we focus on putting your child first at Hymers College. They will be welcomed into a safe and welcoming environment where they can embark on the first stages of their learning adventure.

Our engaging teachers and teaching assistants are proud to be able to offer a rich and varied curriculum, giving your child the opportunity to develop interests at an early age. This includes regular swimming lessons for Year 1 and 2 pupils, music lessons and outside learning environments such as our on-site woodland and games field.

Hymers College offers the very best start for your child.

Hymers Hessle Mount Facilites

Our infant school is currently located at Hymers Hessle Mount on Jenny Brough Lane in Hessle. Beautiful, historic grounds surrounded by outdoor space, trees and nature.

Outdoor learning is very important to us. We have a large field at the front of the school which is used for games and sports, including after-school clubs, as well as playtime. We also have a sunken garden, woodland and nature area, trim trail and all-weather surface for various activities.

Inside we have beautiful, bright classrooms and a main hall used for assemblies, plays and productions, dining for lunch and when the weather brings PE indoors.

Our Infant School pupils also get the opportunity to use the facilities at Hymers College from Year 1, utilising the swimming pool and music facilities. Reception and Year 1 pupils enjoy music lessons on site at Hymers Hessle Mount. Individual music lessons are also available at the school for instruments such as piano, viola and cello.

Our Pre-School is fully integrated with the rest of the school with our youngest children sharing assemblies, playtime, lunch and theme days with the rest of the school. The House system is also a key part of our school life and allows the pupils to mix across the year groups. When a child joins a house at our Infant School they will stay in this house throughout their whole Hymers education through to the completion of Sixth Form.

We also offer a wide variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs including French, football, yoga, drawing, crafting, drama and Lego Club.

Hymers College plans to relocate Pre-School - Year 2 to the main Hymers College site in Hull from September 2025, bringing all-through education to one campus for the first time in Hymers history!

“I am passionate about teaching and focused on ensuring that Hymers College is nurturing, exciting and, most of all, great fun.”
