Hymers Junior School

Year 3 - Year 6

Where inspiring stories begin…

At Hymers College Junior School we believe it is vital to give pupils the opportunity to spread their wings, explore and develop their enthusiasm for learning.

We will provide a safe, happy and caring environment for your child to grow with the support of exceptional subject specialist teachers and learning spaces. Our outstanding facilities include a dedicated art room, science lab, library and design workshop, all set in a huge green outdoor space where your child can play and build friendships.

At Hymers, your child won’t sit SATs. Instead, they will focus on developing themselves academically, emotionally and socially, with access to a wide range of co-curricular activities to ignite their passions.

We don’t just prepare our pupils for exams, we prepare our pupils for life.

“A super school - unpretentious, fantastically well-equipped and with a very sound ethos that will help any young person to thrive and to become a real team player.”

Curriculum

Table showing Hymers Junior School Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the core skills which are required throughout education, along with offering pupils a broad range of subjects outside of the norm, which sparks interest and challenge.

All Junior School pupils are assigned to one of four Houses, which encourages pupils to foster friendships and work as a team. The Houses compete in various activities, encouraging teamwork and cooperation across the different year groups.

Junior School Facilities

Our Junior School is set in a dedicated and purpose-built building with outstanding learning facilities both inside and out.

Within the Junior School our pupils benefit from a dedicated art room, music room, science laboratory, library, and design workshop. These dedicated classrooms support a rich and varied curriculum giving a thorough grounding in the core skills required throughout education, along with offering pupils a broad range of subjects outside of the norm, which spark interest and challenge.

Outside pupils enjoy table tennis tables, a climbing frame, forest school, quiet all-weather play area and dedicated Junior School games fields. These outdoor spaces give ample opportunity for each child to participate in a variety of different sports, catering to all abilities including rugby, netball, football, hockey, cricket and athletics.

The students also use the facilities we share with the Senior School, such as the music rooms, all-weather astro sports pitches, swimming pool and theatre, with galas and outstanding year group productions a regular feature in the school calendar.
