Does the cost stay the same for the duration of my child’s time at Hymers?

No, as shown in the above table of fees, the cost changes depending on the year of study that your child is in. In addition to this, fees are reviewed by our Governors each summer, usually in July. At this point, fees may be subject to change.

As a not-for-profit, any increase is based on the national economy and essential spending to ensure the best quality education for your child.

Are there any other costs to consider?

When budgeting for your child’s education, you should also factor in:

  • Deposit: There is a £250 deposit to accept your child’s place. This is refundable when your child leaves the school.

  • Uniform: For Hymers Hessle Mount, our uniform is available through steadyschoolwear.co.uk and for Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form it can be purchased through schoolblazer.com.

  • Travel: Find out about our buses and current costs.

  • Catering: Lunch is not included within our fees, but is available for a small extra charge.

  • Trips: Most of our trips/visits are optional and the few that are essential we keep closer to home, so that you don’t have to worry about big bills.

  • Music lessons (optional): The Music Department delivers almost 300 vocal and instrumental lessons every week. Find out more about lessons at our Hymers Hessle Mount and Hymers College campuses.

  • Fencing lessons (optional)

  • Exam fees: Examination fees incurred during the Sixth Form, as well as for resits or extra-curricular exams at Senior School, are passed on to parents via the school termly accounts.

  • Before and after school care/homework club: This is included free of charge from Reception, but there is an extra fee for Pre-School children: £3.25 for before school and £5 per hour for after school care.

  • Any applicable taxes/VAT

Does Hymers offer a sibling discount?

No, as we keep our fees as cost-effective as possible unfortunately we are unable to offer any discounts.

Are there any scholarships or bursaries that I can apply for?

For families applying for Year 7 and above, the Hymers Fee Remission (Bursary) Scheme offers academically talented children from lower income households a reduction on their fees. In some cases a full bursary paying all fees may also be available.

How can I pay for my child’s fees?

We offer a range of flexible payment methods, including a fees in advance scheme, payment via bank transfer and direct debit. Direct debit payments are split over 11 months. We also accept Tax Free Childcare for the payment of Pre-School fees.

Does Hymers College accept free childcare hours?

For our Pre-School/Reception children, each child is eligible for 15 hours universal funding per week (based on 6 hours 15 minutes per school day). This begins after the child turns three and is available for six terms; these hours will be deducted from your termly bill.

In order to claim this funding you will need to sign a parental agreement. Thereafter, attendance is charged at £9.97 per hour for Pre-School. The costs for Reception shown above factor in this funding.

In order to claim the 15 hours of universal funding the government stipulates the following:

  • Autumn 2024, your child must be 3 before August 31st

  • Spring 2025, your child must be 3 before December 31st

  • Summer 2025, your child must be 3 before March 31st

We do not accept funding for:

  • Working Family 2-year-old funding

  • Working Family 30-hour funding
