The main entrance point to our Senior School is Year 7. The transition, whether from our Junior School or another primary, is a big step for any child. We will support your child throughout their journey, placing emphasis on independence and social responsibility, encouraging self-motivation and self-confidence.

Years 7 & 8
All pupils study English, Mathematics, Sciences, French, Spanish, Latin, History, ICT, Geography, Design and Technology, Art, Drama, Music, Reading Skills, Religious Education, Physical Education, Games and Personal, Social and Health Education.
Year 9
Pupils can choose elements of their curriculum and can pick from a range of languages, creative and expressive disciplines.
Curriculum
Years 10 & 11
Every Pupil will study GCSE English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and either the Science Trilogy course (worth two GCSEs) or all three Sciences as separate subjects. Building on their core timetable, pupils can choose four or five further options from the below.
Senior School Facilities
Our Senior School is set within the stunning grounds of Hymers College.
We are surrounded by acres of green space and sports fields, a lake, purpose-built sports facilities and study spaces. All our facilities are designed to encourage the best learning experiences for all of our pupils.
When it comes to getting creative, we have a bespoke Art and Design Centre, dedicated Music Centre and an amazing theatre space. Beyond the arts, we encourage every student in the Senior School to participate in sporting activities and exercise. We have enviable facilities, and our PE & Games programme is to designed to cater to a wide range of talents and abilities. All Senior School students are equipped with a Chromebook to allow learning around the campus, as well as in the Learning Resource Centre.

Situated just a mile from the centre of Hull, our grounds cover over 45 acres of land. Within our first-class campus, we have a specialist Art and Design Centre, ICT Centre, theatre, state-of-the-art Music School with individual music lesson rooms, recently refurbished science laboratories, Learning Resource Centre and swimming pool. School Life
The standard school day is 8.40am - 4pm. However, the LRC is open from 8am - 6pm and students can stay to complete homework or take part in clubs and sports.

Fee Remission (Bursary) Scheme
Hymers College operates a Fee Remission scheme (also called a bursary scheme) for pupils from Year 7 upwards. This enables over 110 academically able children to attend Hymers College where parents are not in a financial position to pay the full fees.
