Brave biology students take on conservation work in Honduras

As last year drew to a close, a group of brave biologists took a once in a lifetime trip to Honduras to take part in a two week expedition working as part of a major conservation project!

During their first week, our students camped in the spectacular cloud forests of Cusuco National Park deep within the jungle, working alongside a large team of scientists on projects which included butterfly trapping, amphibian and reptile transect surveys, and bat surveys from mist netting and soundscaping.

They then moved on to Buenos Aires, where they had the privilage of staying with local families within the community.

For the second week of their Honduras adventure, our students moved to the Bay Islands College of Diving (BICD) on Utila Island.

Here they got the opportunity to complete a PADI Open Water dive training course and a Caribbean reef ecology and marine survey techniques course before joining a team of researchers on a project collecting valuable data from the coral reefs.
